My Hunt For A White Silk Shirt

I am currently trying to clear out the “crap” from my wardrobe and stock it with really good basics. It is something the fashion experts always tell us to do, but until this year I never really understood it. Now as I get older I realize my wardrobe is chocked full of clothes that were trendy too many years ago. They look dated and just plain wrong. Plus, with my recent weight gain, all the good pieces I had no longer fit.

One of the items right at the top of my list is a silk (or silky) white shirt. One that I can wear for business and for casual. Tucked in or loose. Comfortable but not bulky. Oh and definitely not sheer (I am too old for that). But it is proving to be impossible.

MBFWA Day 5 Outfit featuring Juicy Couture, Zara and Mollini

If you are wondering what happened to Day 4, well good on you, that is very observant! Unfortunately on Day 4 I was so exhausted I slept through my alarm and didn’t wake up until the late afternoon. Which meant I happened to have missed all my shows for that day. Big boo boo. So we are just skipping over that failure and on to Day 5 ….

It was finally Friday, it had been a long week and the day called for something much more simple. Natasa Colo from Secret Diary Of A Tall Girl (my stylist for the week) insisted that a LBD is the only way to go. Luckily I had just bought one!

MBFWA Day 3 Outfit featuring Forever New, Peep Toe and Disney Couture

Did you see Day 1 outfit and Day 2 outfit? Now it is time for Day 3, and I was probably the most excited about this outfit out of all of them. Again, my outfit was styled by Natasa Colo from Secret Diary Of A Tall Girl, who had to create an outfit using this dress and the limited accessories I have in my collection.

As I mentioned in my Day 2 post, my feet were already killing me so I didn’t even bother with heels this day. I just went straight for the flats. The necklace was a birthday gift from my most fabulous man friend, Beau (that bitch has serious style!), and when Natasa saw it she was giddy with excitement. Turns out, everyone who saw this necklace had the same reaction and I even had a few people stop me during the day and ask to take a photo of it. It really is that amazing.

MBFWA Day 2 Outfit featuring Review and Zara

Did you see my Day 1 outfit? Well, if you missed it make sure you jump back and check it out before seeing this one. Once again my second outfit was styled by Natasa Colo from Secret Diary Of A Tall Girl, who had free reign of my limited closet to compile this look. Of course she styled it with heels but by day 2 my feet (which are so used to flats now they don’t know how to wear heels for more than 30 minutes) were aching. So forgive the use of flats. I do realise the outfit would look 10 times better with heels.

MBFWA Day 1 Outfit featuring Cue, Disney Couture, Forever 21

This year I vowed to make a bigger effort in what I wore to Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Australia (MBFWA), because frankly I don’t think I did a good enough job last year. I bought new dressess, had lots of new accessories I got for my birthday (post about that to go up soon!) and a secret weapon called Natasa. Natasa Colo is a stylist extraordinaire and she is also the blogger behind Secret Diary Of A Tall Girl.I challenged her to piece together 5 days worth of looks from my mess of a closet.

Disney Couture Jewelry For Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Australia

I am really excited about Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Australia (MBFWA) Spring Summer 2012-13, which starts tomorrow! This year I will be making a serious effort with my outfits but I will tell you more on that a little later. One reason I am super happy is because I have some awesome new jewellery from Disney Couture to wear.

The first time I ever experienced Disney Couture was when my mother bought me a Tinkerbell necklace for my birthday a few years ago. I love her so much and ever since I have wanted more and more items from Disney Couture. If you haven’t seen the brand before, they make adorable jewellery based completely on the Disney franchise. If you follow me on Pinterest, you have probably seen me pin quite a few items to My Style board.

Today I am going to show you the two items I am lucky to be adding to my wardrobe during Fashion Week this year.  Read more »
